I am a Postdoctoral Researcher (Senior Research Carlo PP photoFellow) at the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz. In my research, I combine field work in (post-)conflict countries and statistics to understand the causes and consequences of political violence, humanitarian assistance, and development. I have done field research in South Sudan, Nigeria, Burundi and the DR Congo.

My current research project (funded by the German Research Foundation) examines the long-term societal consequences of conflict-related sexual violence. You can read more about this project here.

Previously, I was a Research Fellow at the Department of African Affairs at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies in Hamburg (2011-2015). In 2015 I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Hamburg.

Before getting into academic research I was a Humanitarian Aid Worker with Médecins Sans Frontières in South Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Uganda, and Swaziland.
